What is Included in the Cobra-Defense License? Back To Top
 
I can't get certified for a few months. When does my license commence?
While you must register and make your License payments, the term of the Cobra-Defense License will not commence until the day you complete your certification.

For example:
1. You join today. You pay the registration fee.

Next month payment 1 of 12 is made. The following month payment 2 of 12 is made.

2. You attend certification in month 3. You make payment 3 of 12.

3. Your license begins and will last 12-months from the date of certification.

4. In this example your payments will run out 3 months before your license does.

5. This applies to all payment plans.

How is Cobra-Defense different than a Martial Art? Back To Top
Cobra-Defense doesn’t have a martial protocol (i.e. uniforms, bowing, stances, and so on). It follows an academy format that is similar to a police academy/training camp. This is used world-wide for training purposes including athletic teams, military, police, and so on. It creates a bond among students and has a positive effect on how students view “combative arts.”
 
Will Cobra-Defense interfere with my specific style? Back To Top
Cobra-Defense is specifically designed not to interfere with any martial art “because it is not one.” Cobra-Defense creates an intense desire in student to want to start training in a martial art. You could think of it as a ten-week soft sell on your martial arts program. Students are left wanting more following their 10 week academy.
 
What is the best way to advertise for Cobra-Defense? Back To Top
If your school is already established, you can fill many academies by just announcing it to your current clientele, whether martial art or fitness. You will also gain students using out the marketing material we provide for use in newspapers, flyers, articles, commercials, web placements, brochures, cards, and other professional promotional items. You will also be supplied with selling sound bites and market and upgrade strategies.
 
How will this affect my current schedule? Back To Top
The 10-week academy is usually run 2 nights per week from 7-8 at night (or whatever fits in your facility schedule) for 10 weeks. One day camps are 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours usually on a Saturday. Cobra-Defense takes up very little time and adds tremendous value.
 
Do I need to hire additional staff? Back To Top
Not at all. The Cobra-Defense academy is conducted with a lead instructor and any additional staff you might have. It can be instructed with one instructor who can also be a role player. You can also have a lead instructor and a role player. Keep in mind you don’t need a role player every class. Many times your current student body and Cobra-Defense graduates will pitch in as safeties and assistants. Many questions you have will be answered during your instructor certification.
 
Can I mix my curriculum in with Cobra-Defense? Back To Top
This will not work very well and will confuse the student and possibly disrupt their initial experience. To be very successful at generating revenue and renewing students to your martial art, you must maintain consistency in teaching the Cobra-Defense system. Like a McDonald’s hamburger, it should be the same very time. This will make you more successful than you already are. Stay with the structured curriculum.
 
How do I get students to sign up for martial arts after Cobra-Defense? Back To Top
Stay consistent with the curriculum. Remember, you’re teaching self-defense during the academy and creating an extraordinary experience for the student. Then follow the systematic renewal process in the instructor manual and allow Cobra-Defense national support to help you as you progress via email, phone, and web.
 
Can I adjust the length of the academy and number of classes per week? Back To Top
If you cut out weeks of curriculum, for example if you cut a week of intermediate and advanced, you will have an 8-week academy. For best results, sell the “10-week academy.” Do not cut corners; it will affect your renewal rates.
